The Passages. Architecture for Flowing and Connecting Spaces Conference is committed to the dissemination of knowledge through the principles of Open Access. We strongly believe that research outputs should be accessible without restrictions to foster academic exchange, interdisciplinary collaboration, and public engagement.
This Open Access Policy defines the principles and practices that guide the publication of contributions accepted for the Passages Conference Proceedings.
1. Commitment to Open Access
All accepted contributions, including abstracts, full papers, and other relevant materials, will be published online in full Open Access. The proceedings are made freely available on the official conference website (https://www.passages.polimi.it) and in partner institutional repositories. No subscription or payment barriers apply.
2. Licensing and Reuse
Unless otherwise indicated, contributions are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license. This license allows users to:
- Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format;
- Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, even commercially;
provided that appropriate credit is given to the original author(s) and source.
This licensing model maximizes the visibility, usability, and impact of the work while ensuring that author rights are respected.
3. Author Rights and Responsibilities
Authors retain the copyright of their work. They are entitled to:
- Deposit the published version in institutional or subject repositories;
- Share their work on personal or professional websites;
- Reuse parts of their work in subsequent publications, provided the original publication is cited.
Authors are responsible for ensuring that their submissions do not infringe third-party copyright and that any materials requiring permission are properly cleared.
4. Archiving and Preservation
To guarantee long-term accessibility, the Passages Conference Proceedings are archived on the conference website and in institutional repositories at the Politecnico di Milano. The organizing committee is committed to ensuring the stability, discoverability, and citation of all contributions through persistent identifiers and indexing services where applicable.
5. Costs and Publication Fees
No article processing charges (APCs) or publication fees are required from authors. The publication and maintenance of the proceedings are fully supported by the organizing institutions.
6. Compliance with Funder and Institutional Policies
This Open Access Policy is aligned with international standards and complies with the requirements of major research funders and institutions. Authors can therefore use the proceedings as eligible outputs for their projects and academic reporting.
