Sara Favargiotti, architect, international PhD (IUAV), is Associate Professor of Landscape Architecture at the Department of Civil, Environmental, and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Trento, where she founded and coordinates ELaDe – Ecological LAndscape DEsign LAB, an interdisciplinary research-action platform focusing on architectural, urban, and landscape design in response to social, climatic, and ecological challenges. Her field of research investigates the multiple identities of landscape, questioning the challenges of contemporary life through a regenerative approach, with a particular interest in fragile territories, emerging infrastructures, and adaptive dynamics.
She has been a visiting scholar at GSD Harvard University (2016), Leibniz University Hannover (2014), and Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (2013). She was the local coordinator of the PRIN project “B4R. Branding4Resilience” project (MUR, 2020-2024) and co-curator of the Unfolding Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale (2018).
She was a member of the Board of Directors of the scientific society IASLA (2018-2025) and, since 2025 she is member of the Scientific Committee of the School for the Governance of Territory and Landscape (TSM|step). Since 2022, she has been a co-founding partner and scientific advisor of the innovative startup and benefit corporation RUMA S.r.l..She is co-author of the books “Branding4Resilience | ATLANTE. Ritratto di quattro territori interni italiani” (LetteraVentidue, 2024), “Airfield Manual: A Field Guide to the Transformation of Abandoned Airports” (Harvard GSD Office for Urbanization, 2017) and co-editor of the book “Leaf Plan. Towards the Ecological Transition” (Actar, 2023).
