Fabrizia Berlingieri is Associate Professor of Architectural and Urban Design and a faculty member of the Ph.D. program in Architectural, Urban and Interior Design at the Department of Architecture and Urban Studies (DAStU), Politecnico di Milano. From 2009 to 2019, she was founder and principal of BAS_Berlingieri Architetti Studio, operating across both national and international contexts and earning several awards and recognitions.
In 2007, she completed her Ph.D. in Architectural and Urban Design at the Università Mediterranea degli Studi di Reggio Calabria with a research thesis titled The Bridge and the Strait Area: Landscape, City, Architecture (Aracne, 2018). In 2006, she was selected for the international postgraduate program at the Bauhaus Institute in Dessau, where she conducted research on transnational urbanism titled UPO_Urban Process Outsourcing_Kolkata, India.
From 2011 to 2013, she was a Postdoctoral Fellow within the “Excellence Pathways in Research” program, conducting research at both DArTe in Reggio Calabria and the Department of Architecture at TU Delft, on the topic of Emerging Urban Forms in the European Geography: Potential and Design of Complex Urban Systems Involved in the Infrastructural Restructuring Process of the European Space (Listlab, 2018).
She held the position of guest researcher at the Department of Architecture of TU Delft from 2012 to 2013 and from 2015 to 2017. From 2014 to 2016, she was member of the Expert Team for the Internationale Bauausstellung (IBA) Parkstad, collaborating with curator Jo Coenen on the territorial research project Mutations, which focused on key IBA areas (Energy / Recycle / Flexible). She was also co-editor of the IBA Manual, Summer 2015 (IBA Editions, 2015). She is currently in the board of the Competence Center for Anti-fragile Territories at DAStU.
